A Period of Perisian Prosperity

We arrived in Paris at 7am local time. I almost didn’t want to get off the plane! Even though we had two straight nights of little to no plane sleep, we were determined to make the best out of the 24-hours we would be in Paris. Alisa has been to France, but didn’t get to visit Paris. So we took her on a zombie-walk-blitz-tour complete with espresso shots, cafe au lait, crepes, and… oh yes, all of the awesome Paris sights! Notre Dame, Eiffle Tower, Champs Elyses, Louvre (the outside), Trocadero, walking along the river Sienne, and our favorite: Montmortre. Montmartre is the center of Bohemian culture (turned tourist culture) in paris and has lively streets with music, art, and very little public restrooms.

We went to dinner in Montmartre at a cafe on the corner that was awesome for people watching. At the end of the meal, we tipped our server and she said “Wow! It’s my first one!”. Tipping isn’t as expected here… and even so… 10% if they were super good. I bet they love Americanos that don’t do their tipping research!!

Travel lessons leaned today:
1. Espresso functions much like crack if you are functioning on 6 hours of sleep during a 48-hour travel bonanza.
2. Never book a room at “Hotel Premierre de Classe”….. it is far from premier, or classy.
3. Learn French
